On June 12, Mediterranean Shipping Company (MSC) officially launched its "Dalian-Indonesia/Malaysia" route at Dalian Port. This marks another regional Asian route deployed by MSC, building upon its Southeast Asia route PERTIWI, which was inaugurated in 2022. The company plans to deploy six container ships with capacities ranging from 2,500 TEU to 3,500 TEU, calling at major ports in RCEP member countries such as Indonesia and Malaysia. Additionally, it will provide customers with direct shipping services from Dalian Port to Semarang, the third-largest port in Indonesia.
The "Dalian-Indonesia/Malaysia" route covers a wide area, connecting North China, South Korea, and Southeast Asian countries such as Malaysia and Indonesia. The launch of this new route can effectively alleviate cargo weight restrictions for customers in the Northeast hinterland, helping to improve the circulation efficiency of goods such as fruits, rubber, chemical products, and minerals between the hinterland and Southeast Asia.
This move not only strengthens the maritime trade linkage of the Dalian port towards the Southeast Asian region, but also injects new momentum into the economic and trade exchanges between regions. This is another important layout of the Mediterranean Shipping Company for Asian regional routes, and also an important support for the Dalian port. It is of great significance for promoting the development of the Dalian port and enhancing its international influence.
